Distressed Damsel

One reason why women do not rise up is well... women.

Yes... some may be nodding while some may be rolling eyes.

But the fact remains that most women (not all) do not uphold other women. The reason is not rocket science.

Let's break it down...

If woman A helps woman B in a certain field, then woman B will be a step ahead. Then the ugly thought rears its head - 'what if she becomes successful and becomes more desirable amidst other men?' we need to go no further in throwing light on this issue. Take the women candidates in the upcoming elections as examples. A few scrolls on the comment section beneath their photos shows how encouraging our population is towards them. Most of the scoffing comments, sadly, come from women. Women are quicker on their toes to berate another female rather than having their back.

Actually, this attitude stems from 'primitive' instincts which is not limited to humans..mating has always been closely  associated with competition since the start of life... be it the millions of sperms shooting towards the one ovum or potential queen bees fighting each other to become the egg-laying queen.

So dear woman I like you but you can't be better than me. So no I won't help you.
Sorry mate...I got mating business too!

Subsequently women end up happily helping out their male counterparts compared to their female friends. And well vice versa.. even males are more likely to lend a helping hand towards females more. Damsel in distress...ring a bell?

Another point I would like to throw light upon is the act of " shutting a woman up", which is also a tactic employed by fellow women. Women of older generation 'orthodox dinosaurs" who have grown up in a patriarchal setting and have been embracing their submissive very happily all their life tend to judge the modern women. When modern women try to raise their voice against inequity they are quickly hushed up by other women.

Personally I think that the reason women tend to approach men for help is not because they are the 'weaker sex' but because of the weak link among fellow women.

Ultimately it's not about the 'Damsel in distress' adage,
It's  the woman's stress damage.
