Distressed Damsel

One reason why  women do not rise up  is well... women. Yes... some may be nodding while some may be rolling eyes. But the fact remains that most women (not all) do not uphold other women. The reason is not rocket science. Let's break it down... If woman A helps woman B in a certain field, then woman B will be a step ahead. Then the ugly thought rears its head - 'what if she becomes successful and becomes more desirable amidst other men?' we need to go no further in throwing light on this issue. Take the women candidates in the upcoming elections as examples. A few scrolls on the comment section beneath their photos shows how encouraging our population is towards them. Most of the scoffing comments, sadly, come from women. Women are quicker on their toes to berate another female rather than having their back. Actually, this attitude stems from 'primitive' instincts which is not limited to humans. . mating has always been closely  associated with c

Dhanteras - How far the light goes??

Image
The word  Dhanteras   is made of two words - Dhan which means wealth, and Teras which means 13th day . On this auspicious day people buy precious metals gold and silver ornaments and utensils to enhance the household prosperity. The logic behind buying that something made of metal is the fact that it  is considered the harbinger of good luck and is supposed to keep negative energy at bay. In all the hustle bustle to welcome a deity have you spared a thought for the lady of the house? I hope while lighting 5 diya to welcome Maa Lakshmi. . you have a thought for the lakshmi already residing in your house. The lakshmi who makes your house a home, who makes delicacies out of mere groceries. 5 loving words go farther than the light of 5 diyas . 5 caring words towards your wife will bequeath you far more happiness. Some people rush to buy a chunri for the idol. . but the same person won't care to ask the ladies in the house of they want a saree for Diwali. We decor

Pic credit: Deeveya Thakoor Seated next to the window seat Tapping my foot to the songs beat I rest my eyes on the sky's majestic blue then I shift to the soothing swaying greens Supported by a downtrodden yellow Symmetrical geometric whites aligned on the freshly tarred jet black In a whizz the myriad starts to fuse ... As the bus continues its cruise. A gush of chilly breeze catches me off-guard - Jeez Followed by a mizzle Drops of rain settle on the window like millions of tiny crystals in all their glow. A tiny little world in each drop, but upside down if you look close enough. A treasured sight, Much to my delight. ~ Sun-kissed Ink
